Reflection Paper : EL PRESIDENTE

EL PRESIDENTE is about the story of the First President of the First Philippine Republic. Emilio Aguinaldo lives a long and gainful life from the time of the Philippine revolution against the Spanish colonial rule to the American. The story also explores his inner struggles as a husband and war leader for the country. This film shows the determination of this one person who stood his ground and victorious led in the Philippine Revolution. Before watching this movie, what I just now about Aguinaldo is he was the soul and brain of the Katipunan and no other deeper than to that. I know that he was brave but I didn't know how really brave he was. When I was watching the movie, the battling scene was full of bravery, courage, heroism and heart in the person of Emilio Aguinaldo. He never stops defending the freedom that a Filipino people wants to have. Every time that Filipino wins in their battles, my heart is clapping for gladness. For me this film gets high marks in action sequences. Even though that there were some lingering of scenes, many shots still offer that “WOW” factor.I am amazed how they put together in this film the big-names of stars in their cast. And most importantly, the production is still able to live up to the emotional investment of historical offering needs to promote and deliver the sense of nationalism. I am not a fan or I am not really up to in historical films, but after watching the film, I can say that EL PRESIDENTE shines as passionate attempts to contribute something valuable   for Philippine Cinema. It also provokes the audience to have a more open mind on Philippine heroism. And it really tells the true to life story of this person that has a strong power and the glory behind the struggle for freedom and the battle for Philippine Independence. This Legendary Hero was no other that EMILIO AGUINALDO.
